Ella Universe

Published

I was looking not only for a blog name but for a brand name for my vision. I wanted to embrace all what I love in this alter persona, immerse myself in its world, and invite others to join if they liked. I created this muse, Ella, the timeless alter female. She embodies my ideal of sophisticated understated beauty, that is luxury to me. She exists so I can become.

When did you start out blogging?
I started my blog in October of 2009.

Why did you start up the blog?
I was looking not only for a blog name but for a brand name for my vision. I wanted to embrace all what I love in this alter persona, immerse myself in its world, and invite others to join if they liked. I created this muse, Ella, the timeless alter female. She embodies my ideal of sophisticated understated beauty, that is luxury to me. She exists so I can become.

How did you choose your blog name?
This blog is about Ella and her Universe where the upmost fashion, art, design and architecture come together and express what is happening around us, through my eyes... But the blog is just the beginning, one day Ella will become a larger experience.

What is it all about?
I started this blog as personal catharsis, as a designer we constantly focus in our customers and projects needs. We hardly ever embark in a internal journey. It’s always for others, always outside of us, always giving... And I needed to design for myself... To create my own vision and share it with whom understands.

In order to create this space I needed quality input, surround me with people and stories that inspire and engage me, with what I love.

What do you do when you're not blogging?
I am a mom, wife and a fulltime professional. I am Chief Creative Director at a corporation and manage a creative team of designers, photographers, digital retouchers specialized in the apparel industry.

If you could be in one place in the world right now, where would it be?
Well, I love Paris and the French countryside. But I enjoy to travel, wander around this amazing world, so I would be hopping here and there forever.

Who or what is your main inspiration?
I am inspired by talented people, people that had a vision and made it happen for themselves... People that transcended, broke the line of what is needed from them, to become what they wanted to be. In my blog I write about them all the time. I like to see the artist behind the art piece, the designer, the visionary, and learn about them, their story and their passion.

Photographer: Peter Lindbergh and his magnificent black and white photography of the 90s supermodels inspired in the Germany of the 20s.

Model: Helena Christensen, she embodies the upmost sexy sophistication, half Danish, half Peruvian... She is The Femme.

Entrepreneur: Coco Chanel, she did it all in times where women were limited by society. She changed the way women dressed back then and forever.

Artist: Gustav Klimt, who understood what does it mean to feel sensual as a woman, beautiful and free. His art is rich, expressive and raw at the same time.

What do you have planned for the future of your blog?
My blog will always be a resource for me and anyone that appreciates design or just beauty in this world, like an ever growing library. As per Ella... Well she is still waiting for her time. You will see her around you one day, opening a store where you can have the most “Marie Antoinette” inspired experience, drinking a cup of tea or maybe pink champagne with colorful macaroons, browsing unique vintage crystals and design books while trying on one of my latest creations. Ella will open her universe to you... for now meet her at ellauniverse.com.
